I just have a quick question

General FAQs

  • Warm, sentimental, (and a lil’ bit) silly.

  • Great question! Besides a Celebrant’s packages on offer and their price point…the key differences otherwise are their personality, writing style, and presenting style. Your homework is finding a Celebrant you gel with first and foremost - and can make you both feel equally in control and giddy.

  • You betcha. Regardless of the package you choose I make sure we follow all essential steps to have your marriage lodged with Births, Deaths & Marriages.

  • At least one calendar month prior to your wedding we need to meet to complete a document called the Notice of Intended Marriage. We’ll likely also complete a document called the Declaration of no legal impediment to marriage as this has to be done as close to your wedding as possible. On the big day, not only are you required to repeat some wording after me, but you and your two witnesses (over the age of 18) will need to sign an Official Certificate of Marriage and a Ceremonial certificate, the latter you will take home with you on the day. Your own copy of an Official certificate of marriage will arrive in your letter box a few weeks post-wedding.

  • This depends on the package you choose, but generally a 50% deposit is required up front to lock in your day.

  • The latest we can kick things off from a legal perspective is one calendar month prior to your wedding day. There are exceptional circumstances where this can be shortened. Otherwise, most of my couples book me about 12 - 18 months out from their big day, and ideally we meet 3 - 6 months out to kick things off so you two can sit back and relax.

  • Absolutely, just ask!

  • Unfortunately this is where my super powers stop. Post wedding, you can take the surname of your partner or add their surname to yours, without registering a name change. You’ll need your official marriage certificate to do so (this is what arrives in your mailbox a few weeks after your wedding). Learn how to change your surname after marriage in Australia here.

  • Sure do! My packages account for standard travel to your venue, 45 minutes drive from Balmain 2041. I am available worldwide however this cost will be accounted for in my fee up front.

I Do by Your Mate Package FAQs

  • Essentially we legalise your marriage whenever it suits you. Most of my couples legalise the night before their wedding day, often in their favourite restaurant (or on the kitchen bench). This allows them to focus fully on their Mate’s delivery of their ceremony the next day, and not to worry about ducking off to complete paperwork when your guests are ready to party. I am of course available to legalise your marriage on your wedding day, this just comes at an additional up-front cost.

  • Yes. I handle all legal requirements for you to become a married couple, whilst your mate performs a commemorative ceremony (i.e. not legal).

  • Absolutely I can! There are options for me to even write the script for them (with recommended prompts for them to add their own personalised spice) if you are worried they might miss key elements of a banging ceremony. I can even have a 1:1 mentor call with them to run through & build their script with them, if they need a professional sounding board to calm any nerves.

Got it? Flaunt it. Package FAQs

  • However long you want it, my loves. The shortest ceremony I have done is 5 minutes, the longest being 25 minutes. I usually recommend a ceremony length at 20 minutes to best maintain crowd energy and event flow into reception.

  • I sure do. I have my own Bose S1 Portable Bluetooth Speaker System that is battery charged and bloody brilliant if I do say so myself.

  • You bet we can. You just shout and I will integrate this into your ceremony run-order. I’ll adapt my speaking time to allow all your non-negotiables to be involved and suggest the best points in the ceremony for these things to happen, to manage crowd energy and ceremony flow.
